Where Is The Invitation?
Where’s The Invitation?
"Without me you can do nothing" was the definitive words of Christ to His disciples and today those words apply to you and your marriage. (John 15:5)
Without Christ, we cannot be married or stay happily married. Certainly, there are many non-Christians who are happily married just by applying God's principles. Those marriage appear great on the surface but are lacking in terms of spiritual and eternal wholeness. Yes, they are good marriages in the moment but they cannot secure destinies of future generations. And the bond in those marriages don't extend into the Spiritual realm. They are superficial and purely natural unions.
To be fully, and happily married, we don't only need Christ's principles but we need Christ Himself at the center of the marriage.
"For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him..." (Col 2:9-10)
In Christ, dwells the fullness of God! The entirety of God is found in Christ. When He is at the center of the marriage, all the richness of God is made available to the marriage. When God is at the center of your marriage, there is never a shortage of peace, love, understanding, and forgiveness. Even in difficult times He will hold your hands and navigate you through the storms.
"And you are complete in Him,” implies your marriage is whole, physically, emotionally and spiritually in Christ! In other words, without Christ marriages are missing the secret reagent of wholeness!
Sadly, not all Christians have Christ at the center of their marriage. Frankly speaking, being a Christian doesn't guarantee that Christ or His principles are at the center of the marriage. For Christ to be the central pillar in your home He has to be invited in. This requires a level of intentionality even most Christians miss.
Jesus' very first miracle was performed at a wedding banquet. Now, even though Jesus was from the next town over, and His mother had already been invited and it will seem natural for Jesus to just show up, He wasn't going to be present without an invitation. He needed permission by the hosts.
"Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding." (John 2:2)
This morning, Jesus is waiting on an invitation from you and your spouse to occupy the central seat in your marriage. This is an intentional process which requires an affirmation anytime you go on your knees. Here's a simple daily prayer for you.
"Lord, this marriage is yours, this home belongs to you. Let your presence be reign today and in the years and generations to come!" Amen!
Now that you have invited Christ into the marriage, give Him unlimited access. Be humble enough for Him to influence you! When you ran out of the wine of love or intimacy, call on Him; He is the source of fresh wine every morning and your home will never run out of sweetness and joy!
God richly bless you!
