Write It All Down
"This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you." (Jer 30:2)
"Take a scroll and write on it all the words I have spoken to you concerning Israel" (Jer 36:2)
Today, we start our annual appreciation journal! God wants us to document the major events and activities of the year. Write down the places you went, the people you met, and in some cases the emotions it/they illicited. Remember your birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebrations or perhaps tragedies. This will take a bit of time, but it is guaranteed to stir you into worship and appreciation.
With just a few days left in the year, the world is buzzing with “busy'ness.” Everyone wants to celebrate, eat, and drink. Most Christians have multiple services, families are getting together, but nothing will be more powerful than taking a big pause and writing down the faithfulness of God throughout the year.
God asked Jeremiah to write "all the words" He had spoken to Israel.
Writing doesn't only force us to remember the faithfulness of God over the past year, but we will leave behind a priceless legacy to our children and their children. One day, our descendants will read and be inspired about our level of gratitude.
Look through your diary, calendar, photos on your phone, and social media posts. Then recall the year in writing, ideally month after month. Also, document your feelings surrounding the specific situations and feelings. Good or bad, those feelings were a part of how you experienced the year.
What you write will be a stark reminder of God's hand in your life. From this praise, worship and thanksgiving will overflow from your heart.
“Praise the LORD, O my soul, and FORGET not all His benefits” (Psalm 103:2)
God richly bless you.
